As described in the Agreement, these License Terms and Conditions and the additional documents together comprising the Binding Documents are binding upon all participating companies, farms and farm groups in their dealings with RA. These Binding Documents cover the various elements of working with RA, including registration, audits and certification, traceability, labeling and selling product as certified.
The policy sets out specific implementation requirements for certificate holders at both producer and supply chain actor levels (Certification Criteria) and for reinforcing the assurance process (Assurance Process Rules).

The UTZ Certification Protocol for Brazil 1.1 describes the process for becoming an UTZ certified member in Brazil. It explains which members need to receive an audit, and how and when this audit shall be conducted. The Certification Protocol for Brazil also describes the arrangements determining the relationship between the CBs operating in Brazil and UTZ.

As of December 3, 2018, companies can work with both Rainforest Alliance and UTZ certified products, by having one Chain of Custody certificate in place for either one of the current programs. The Chain of Custody Cocoa Annex is used along with the Chain of Custody Standard by all cocoa supply chain actors who trade and/or process UTZ certified cocoa products.
